Case study

From one studio’s in-house system to BOS

Sense in Motion website with the lesson library

The problem

Sense in Motion is a movement studio. Its teachers had years of recorded classes, most of them audio, and students who wanted to practice at home between sessions.

Selling those lessons online looked simple. It was not. Hosted course platforms took a percentage of every sale and kept the student relationship on their side. Publishing a native app through a platform meant a shared, generic app, or a price that made no sense for a small studio.

Selling directly inside an app store raised a different issue: in-app purchases carry store fees of up to 30%. For a studio with modest margins, that was the difference between a sustainable lesson library and a side project.

What was built

The studio already had a WordPress site. Instead of moving students to another platform, the team built a lesson library on top of it. Lessons were sold as WooCommerce products, so checkout, invoices and customer accounts stayed on the studio’s own site.

A dedicated service handled the heavy lifting: video and audio encoding, streaming through a CDN, and tracking which student could open which program.

Then came the apps. Native iOS and Android apps, published under the studio’s own name, in English and Hebrew, with right-to-left layouts, background audio, lock-screen controls and offline downloads. Students who bought on the website could sign in to the app and find everything waiting for them.

Why we opened it up

Over time, other teachers asked how the studio’s apps were made. Many were in the same position: a WordPress site, a growing library of recordings, and no good way to sell them without giving away a share of every sale.

BOS is the same system, cleaned up and opened to other professional teachers. The plugin is free. Paid plans are flat monthly prices. And every teacher is reviewed by hand, so the platform stays what it started as: a tool for people who teach for a living.
